Italian Sausage Sandwiches in an Instant Pot ® – – Instantly Delicious

We are a big NFL football family.  Most Sundays (and some Thursdays and Mondays) from August through February are spent watching football and cheering on our beloved Bears.  We recently had a friend over for some football viewing and I needed an easy dinner that would be a crowd pleaser. I also did not want to have to cook when our guest was over. I use my Instant Pot® all of the time as a pressure cooker,  but I have not yet used it as a slow cooker.  This weekend I decided that I needed a slow cooker to make one of my favorite Sunday football meals. It was great not to have to cook. I just let the Italian Sausage simmer for a few hours and they were perfect when it was time for dinner.
Typically I cook from scratch, but this recipe comes from my aunt and it is TASTY.  It calls for a can of mushroom gravy and that might sound really strange, but just go with it.  After it simmers with the sausages, peppers, and pizza sauce, it is delicious. It is saucy, peppery, messy, and the perfect game-day food. Plus the recipe is super easy. I am thinking this dish will make another appearance or two this football season. Super Bowl, anyone?
Instant Pot® Italian Sausage

1-8 oz. can pizza sauce
1-10.5 oz. can mushroom gravy
1 cup bell peppers, sliced
sausage rolls

1. Either using the saute function on the Instant Pot® or a broiler, brown the Italian sausage on all sides.
2. Add the browned sausage to the Instant Pot®. Cover with pizza sauce, gravy, and pepper slices.  Stir to combine.
3. Set the Instant Pot® to the slow cooker setting, adjusting the time for 3 hours.
4. When finished, serve on sausage rolls, topped with peppers and some of the sauce.
