Instant Pot® Oatmeal in a Jar – – Instantly Delicious

Easy Instant Pot® Oatmeal in a Jar -

I have been getting a lot of feedback on my oatmeal recipes lately, specifically related to the “burn” message on the newer Instant Pot®. My Banana Bread Steel-cut Oats and Peaches and Cream Oatmeal are huge hits, but some users are getting the “burn” message because of the fruit sugars and thickness of oatmeal. I never like to have unresolved problems with my recipes, so I decided to try and remedy this.  I cooked the oatmeal in jars on a trivet. It worked really well and should take care of this problem.
Much like the pot-in-pot method, cooking in jars removes much of the mess that comes with cooking oatmeal directly in the pot.  It also allows you to cook anywhere from one to four individual servings. You can customize with fruit, nuts, flavorings and sweeteners. The finished oatmeal can also be refrigerated and reheated on busy school mornings.  Give this method for Oatmeal in a Jar a try.  I think you will really enjoy your morning oatmeal cooked this way.
Easy Instant Pot® Oatmeal in Jars
Makes 1

1/2 cup old fashioned oats
2 cups water, divided
pinch of salt (optional)

1. Place 1 cup of water in the Instant Pot®. Place trivet on the bottom.  In a 12 oz glass jar combine 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 cup water, and pinch of salt, stirring to combine.  Place uncovered jar on trivet. Repeat process for up to 4 jars.

2. Lock lid, making sure the valve is in the sealing position.   Set to manual high-pressure for 3 minutes.  When finished do a natural pressure release for 10 minutes. Then do quick pressure release. Serve with flavorings and toppings, to taste.
