One Pot Pasta and Meat Sauce in the Instant Pot® – – Instantly Delicious

One Pot Pasta and Meat Sauce in the Instant Pot® -

One pot pasta dishes are all the rage.  All the ingredients are cooked together in one pot. I have made several variations, which have included a basil pasta, Thai-style, and a veggie-loaded spaghetti.  All have been delicious and easy.  What could be easier then cooking all of the components of your dinner in one pot? Plus, the pasta absorbs all of the flavors from the sauce in which it cooks. This recipe for One Pot Pasta and Meat Sauceis cooked in the Instant Pot®.  Easy, rich, and everyone loves it.
This hearty dish starts with browning the ground beef using the sauté function.  Then the vegetables are briefly sautéed, seasoning, tomato sauce, and whole wheat pasta are added and it all cooks under pressure for about 5 minutes. Before you know it, a nutritious dinner is on the table, and you only have one messy pot to clean up when you are finished.
One Pot Pasta and Meat Sauce
Serves 8

1 box of whole-wheat penne or rotini pasta (my box was 13 ounces)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic
8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1-28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
1-14 ounce can diced tomatoes, with juice
2 1/2 cups water

1. Using the saute function, heat the olive oil in the Instant Pot®. Add the ground beef, stirring to break up the meat, cooking until no longer pink.  Add the onions, garlic, and mushrooms and saute for about 3 minutes.

2. Add the tomatoes, seasoning, pasta, and water to the pot.  Stir to combine.  Set the Instant Pot® to manual – high pressure for 6 minutes (5 minutes- if you prefer your pasta more al dente), making sure the valve is in the sealing position. When finished, quickly release the pressure by switching the valve to venting. Serve immediately.
